So, whilst I was out shopping with my Mum & Sister over the weekend I spotted a pair of the Jimmy Choo's I posted last week, of course they weren't the original pair but instead fakes! They were identical to the original but instead of the crystalised embellishment, they had cheap plastic non sparkly stitch on stones. I tried to take a picture as discretely as I could manage but I failed in my attempt. This may have been because I told my younger sister that they were the fake Jimmy Choo's I liked and loved, who then happened to go scream it at my Mum. I might have mentioned before that when my sister needs to make a point she will make sure she is heard by everyone around her, regardless of where she is. So the sales assistant in the store where then hot on my tail and when I got my phone out to the photo she just wouldn't leave my side.
What is your opinion on fakes/replica's??
I know for sure that I am against it, as I feel owning something from a luxury label is not about the way it looks but more about how it makes you feel. It's an accomplishment in being able to own such a piece. I have my fare share of designer bits and pieces. But if I can't afford it I will stick to the good old 'high street', which definatly ain't exactly cheap anymore. Stores like French Connection and Karen Millen are constantly increasing their prices. For a coat you could previously have bought for around £200 is now a minimum of £300. So maybe we are better off saving our money and spending a little extra on something with an actual label. Not that I'm a label whore or anything. I really don't mind wearing a dress that costs £5 as long as it ain't fake, if it don't have a label the better. Unless it comes to handbags.
Lol. The bit about your sister being loud in the shop and you trying to be discreet made me laugh...
ReplyDeleteTbh, I can't say I have much of an opinion. I mean I probably wouldn't rock fake designer BUT then I don't rock real designer either. (Minus things like my glasses but I justify that because they're ALWAYS on my face so I just think they need to look nice). I'm too broke other than that. Ahaha, the pitiable life of a student eh. (But so far I don't regret quitting my job.)
